Seasonal Menu for May

Summer is coming! The ground has warmed, the processing tomatoes planted in March are now thriving, creating the familiar green that blankets Yolo County, along with bright green fields of alfalfa. Orchards are thickly leaved, their nuts and fruits set. Cherries are already being picked and apricots are not far behind.

The earth continues its late spring bounty, yielding up leafy greens, fava beans, artichokes, asparagus, green garlic, and young turnips and radishes. Strawberries are in full swing now, just in time for Mother’s Day.

  • Young radishes with butter and sea salt
  • Braised Artichoke and Fava Beans with Fresh Thyme
  • Lamb Ragout with Potatoes
  • Little Gem Lettuce with Blue Cheese Dressing
  • Strawberry Shortcake
